Najeeb Tarakai, the Afghan top order batsman, died at the age of 29 as a result of a traffic accident.
News reported that Najeeb was hit by a car last week while crossing the road in eastern Nangarhar. The Afghanistan Cricket Board confirmed that he had died from his injuries on Tuesday, October 6th.

“ACB and Afghanistan Cricket Loving Nation mourn the heartbreaking and grave loss of their aggressive batsman and a very good person, Najeeb Tarakai, 29, who was killed in a tragic traffic accident and shocked us all,” the board said on social media .
Tarakai had appeared in a T20I and 12 ODIs for Afghanistan, mainly as the opening batsman. His T20I best of 90 came against Ireland in 2017.
He averaged 47.20 in top-notch cricket, including a career-high of 200, and had six centuries against his name. After being the top scorer for Speen Ghar Tigers in the Shpageeza Cricket League last year, he was part of the Mis Ainak Knights’ squad when they reached the final last month.
