Afghanistan Announced Squad For ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020

Afghanistan has nominated its 15-member squad for the 2020 ICC U-20 World Cup on Sunday, December 8. 16-year-old inaugural batsman Farhan Zakhil will lead the team in the tournament.

Zakhil is already a top-notch cricketer, having scored 929 runs in 13 games in the format, including three centuries and five half-centuries. Two of these centuries for Kabul were in conflict with the Boost region in May this year.

The outstanding name in the page is Ibrahim Zadran. The opener has already made its full international debut after playing two tests, one ODI and three T20Is for Afghanistan. His 87 in the second inning of the Test Against Bangladesh in September helped Afghanistan to a famous victory.

Zadran also played in the previous edition of the Under-19 World Championship, where he scored 186 runs in five games at 37.20. Afghanistan reached the semi-finals of this tournament before falling to the eventual runner-up Australia.

The Afghan U19 national team suffered a narrow defeat of 2-2 in the series after their last series against the Indian U19. Afghanistan also made it to the semi-finals of the U19 Asian Cup in September and made it to the finals of the series just for a washout.
