The FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019 reaches half its point when one of the tournament favorites arrives. Flamengo arrives in Doha and is determined to end an outstanding year at the highest level. After winning their second Copa Libertadores after 38 years, they added another Brazilian league title to their collection and want to keep the good times going.
The disadvantage, however, was that Fla ended 28 games unbeaten on the last day of the season. This is a setback that will give hope to an Al-Hilal team that wants to experience a surprise and reach the final.
The game is preceded by a battle for fifth place between the Al Sadd host club and Esperance, the team that held this position in last year’s tournament. The Tunisians dominating in Africa are still missing out at the Club World Cup.
The first semi-final of Qatar 2019 will be a memorable event for every Flamengo and Al Hilal player, especially Colombian midfielder Gustavo Cuellar and Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus. Cuellar helped Mengao reach the quarter-finals of this year’s Copa Libertadores before it was sold to the Saudi side, while Jesus was sitting at Al Hilal Stadium before switching to the Brazilian giants and overseeing one of the best seasons in club history.
During this diner we promised each other that we will meet again and it’s with a real pleasure that I will play against you and your team @Flamengo hope that we will have a big game! See you mister ❤️ pic.twitter.com/MNaYU8vXk8— Bafétimbi Gomis (@BafGomis) December 14, 2019
Head To Head:
In such a short tournament where the error rate is so low, an elegant striker can make the difference between success and failure. Flamengo and Al Hilal both have one in their ranks. Gabriel Gabigol Barbosa and Bafetimbi Gomis have each scored eight goals in the last ten games, some of them very special. The Brazilian scored the double that secured the Copa Libertadores for Flamengo, while the Frenchman’s last goal led his team into this semi-final.

Key Players To Wach
Anice Badri (Esperance)
Badri was by far the best player in his team against Al Hilal. All of her attacks went through him, including a gold-plated chance that could have changed the game if he had put it away. Technically gifted, two feet and blessed with great foresight, after the departure of Youcef Belaili he developed into Esperance’s most important man.
Bafetimbi Gomis (Al Hilal)
It was Gomis’s breathtaking goal that led the Saudi team past Esperance into the semi-finals. The Frenchman, who was the top scorer in the AFC Champions League this year, came off the bench 25 minutes before the end and conjured up the winner in just eight minutes. Al Hilal’s hopes of disrupting Flamengo largely depend on how he appears.
