Three young Bangladeshi tennis players were given the chance to participate in the ITF Asia U / 14 Development Championships: Division-1 after performing well in Division 2 in Thailand in January.
Under the banner of the International Tennis Federation, Masfia Afrin, Roman Hossain and Mahadi Hasan Alvee will participate in the Division 1 tournament, which will be held in Uzbekistan from 5 to 18 May.
China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Vietnam will participate as teams, but Bangladesh can not participate as a team Division-1.
Four boys from Bangladesh had previously earned such opportunities. However, this was the first time that a Bangladeshi girl had the opportunity to showcase her talent in comparatively better competition, said the officer of the Bangladesh Tennis Federation (BTF), Mahmoud Alam.
The BTF official added that Alvee became vice-champion of the boys, Roman finished second in the boys’ doubles, while Afrin played in the semifinals of girls’ girls’ division 2 girls.
