In the first match of the Caribbean Premier League 2020, the Trinbago Knight Riders defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors by four wickets. Sunil Narine was the hero for Knight Riders. Who made his team win by playing an innings of 50 runs off 28 balls. In this 17-over match, Guyana’s team scored 144 runs for 5 wickets after being invited to bat first, in response, the Knight Riders won the match with 2 balls left.
The team of Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bowl first after the game was shortened due to rain and wet outfield, which proved to be correct. The game was reduced to 17 overs per team. In the very first over, Ali Khan dismissed Brandon King at 0. After this, when the score was 23 runs, Chandrapaul Hemraj was dismissed for 3 runs.
The Amazon Warriors were supported by international star Shimron Hetmayer, who scored an unbeaten 63 off 44 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes. Apart from this, New Zealand international star Ross Taylor also scored 33 runs.
For the Knight Riders, Sunil Narine also showed brilliance with the ball and took two wickets. Ali Khan, Jayden Seales and Dwayne Bravo took one wicket each.
The Knight Riders had a modest start with Lindal Simmons and Narine. They got their first blow in 4.1 over when Simmons was caught by Imran Tahir off Naveen-ul-Haq. Colin Munro was dismissed for 17 after this.
When Narine was out in 10.5 overs, the team’s score was 100 runs. Narine hit two fours and four sixes in his innings. After this, Bravo made 30 runs with the help of two sixes off 27 balls to take the score further.
Knight Riders lost a few wickets in the last but still they won the match by scoring 147 runs in 16.4 overs.
