Cricket Ireland is worried about Tensions Between Pakistan and India, Due to Their T20 and ODI Series Against Afghanistan (in india)

The Irish squad is located in the Indian province of Dehradun, not far from Kashmir, where tensions between the two countries have increased.

Cricket Ireland states that it will comply with official recommendations to ensure the safety of its players and team management.

On Thursday, the opening of an ODI against Afghanistan will take place in Ireland.

In a statement, Cricket Ireland said: “Active monitoring of the current security situation between India and Pakistan.

“The management works with the squad and works with the Afghanistan Cricket Board, the ICC, the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Offices.

“Preparations are currently in the run-up to the upcoming ODI series, but Cricket Ireland will follow all official advice in the coming days to ensure player safety and team management.”

As preparations for the opening match of the five-game ODI series continue, all-rounder Stuart Thompson has been inducted into Ireland’s one-day squad.

The 27-year-old is already in India and has been named in the Irish T20 and Test squads. He will also cover the one-day panel.

Opener William Porterfield, who has retired from the role of T20 captain to focus on leading the ODI and Test teams, is one of the players to start the series after a 3-0 win on Thursday Defeat against Afghanistan in the T20 series last week.

“Some of us are coming to the squad, five of us have been here for a week and that helps to refresh things from this side,” Porterfield said.

“Afghanistan is a tough team in T20 Cricket, but we are together and fresh for the one-day series and look forward to it.

“In recent games, we played good cricket at different times – Afghanistan is a strong T20 team and there were a couple of good games won by some of their guys – that’s what the T20 cricket is all about.

“If a person struggles like that, it can be hard to stop the momentum, but our guys did well, and it was good to talk to Fordie [head coach Graham Ford] from the sidelines.”
