MS Dhoni was not one of India’s limited-crossing squads, but Wriddhiman Saha gave it a test retour when the BCCI announced that the contingent will be traveling to the West Indies for a full tour from 3 August.
Rishabh Pant will be the only specialized wicket keeper in the Limited Overs squad while being inducted into the squad by Saha, who last played in January 2018. MSK Prasad, the Chief Selector, announced that Dhoni has made himself. “Not available” for the tour.
The selection also decided to rest Jasprit Bumrah, the star-paceman, for the limited round of the tournament. But he will connect with the squad in time for the tests. Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder, was well rested throughout the tour.
R Ashwin was another player who returned to the test squad after missing three tests in Australia with a side load. He will accompany Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav as a specialist in the two-game series.
In the Limited Overs squads, the vacant fast bowler Navdeep Saini was called to both the ODI and T20I squads, while the fast Deepak Chahar found a place in the T20I squad. All of Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer and Khaleel Ahmed have also returned to the ODI side.
Shikhar Dhawan, who left the squad with a thumb injury in the midst of the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, has returned to full recovery while Dinesh Karthik, the goalkeeper’s bat, has been left out. Vijay Shankar, who also had to go home due to a toe injury from the World Cup, is not represented in any of the squads.
