East Bengal Don’t Play ISL Then No Investment Says Prasoon Mukherjee

East Bengal’s surge towards ISL halted after it was reported that Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the owners of Indian Super League, will not introduce any new team this season.

But, East Bengal officials are still working hard and giving their best. The club officials are trying to tie a knot with a investor who can guarantee them the finance to play in the ISL.

The latest name that is linked with the club is Jakarta based business man Prasoon Mukherjee’s company Universal Success Enterprise Limited (USEL), and they are frontrunner for this deal.

USEL owner Prasoon Mukherjee gave an interview to a news portal where he talked about the future of East Bengal and his company’s link.

Prasoon Mukherjee Interview About Investing In East Bengal

In the interview Prasoon Mukherjee revealed that he has asked the club to send all the contractual paper as without it Prasoon Mukherjee cannot sign contract paper. But the paper has not been sent yet.

When he was asked about investment, he said it is still where it was at first, nothing has been finalised yet.

Few days ago a rumour started circulating around social media that Mr Prasoon Mukherjee and his company has agreed on a 5 year deal with the club. When he was asked about the rumour, he answered with a laugh that even he heard the news, but it’s not true at all. The contract papers have not been sent yet to Prasoon Mukherjee so how can he sign contract.

It is still a question that if both parties have agreed on a deal, then what is the share percentage, when asked about share percentage, he said at first the club officials offered him 49% then 51% but he didn’t agree because he was is not ready to invest 40 crore a year for only 49 or 51 percent, now they have agreed to give 70% share after Mr Prasoon Mukherjee mailed East Bengal club asking for 80 percent share.

He also said that, at first he was told that the club will play in ISL with the name as ‘USEL East Bengal’ but now that according to reports FSDL don’t want anymore teams so why would he invest in club to play in the 2nd Division of Indian football.

He further added that he has asked East Bengal officials to bring a paper from FSDL in which it will be written that East Bengal will be allowed to play in ISL.

When he was asked about if they are only going to invest in the senior team, he replied that he wants to take East Bengal to the very top and would invest in youth development as well.

But, the biggest point that came out of that interview is that if East Bengal don’t play in ISL this season, he won’t invest in the club.

After this earlier today Xtra Time reported that East Bengal officials have written a letter to FSDL asking for some more time to finalize the investor and then they will whether they will play ISL or not.

Where is the East Bengal bus is heading towards ? Will the club play in the top tier competition ? And will Mr Prasoon Mukherjee invest in the club if they don’t play in the ISL ? A lot of questions to be answered soon.
