England Need 8 wickets to win 3rd test and series against West Indies even they have just one day left Tomorrow on 28th July 2020. Today no play was possible due to rain.
England Need 8 Wickets To win 3rd Test and Series
Shortly before the end of the third evening, Joe Root explained that Stuart Broad and James Anderson had enough time to score six overs. In his three overs, Broad removed both John Campbell and Kemar Roach to give the hosts a dream start for the final innings of the series, and gave them two days to take the eight remaining gates.
But the rain intervened and washed out the entire fourth day, leaving Roots men only one day to do the job. If the West Indies remain tied, they will keep the Wisden Trophy after winning it 2-1 at home in early 2019. This is the last time that the teams are fighting for the Wisden Trophy. The Richards-Botham Trophy will replace it after this series.
When the last day is fully played, England has another 98 overs to roll out the West Indies, meaning that visitors have to survive a total of 104 overs to secure the draw. The last time Windies fought so many overs in the fourth innings of a test was against Pakistan in October 2016 – they were eliminated on that occasion after 108 overs.
The rain also delayed a personal milestone for Stuart Broad, whose eight gates have led him to 499 test wickets so far – only one of which will only be the fourth bowler in the game’s history to reach the mark.
