FIFA President Inaugurates Forward Project In Curaçao

After a first visit to the Cayman Islands, FIFA President continued his trip through the Caribbean on Friday with a visit to Curacao.

The highlight of the program was the inauguration of a new artificial turf and dressing rooms fully funded by the FIFA Forward program. President Infantino attended the opening ceremony together with the President of Concacaf, Victor Montagliani, and the President of the Football Association of Curacao (FFK), Rignaal Francisca.

Infantino also met with the members of the FFK Executive Committee at the headquarters of the association, where he praised the association for its progress and valuable work in the recent results of the national team on the pitch and the current 79th place in the latest FIFA World Cup ™. Ranking reflected.

“We are very encouraged by the serious work being done here on Curaçao, with significant investment in infrastructure, local competitions and youth development, all reflected in recent successes of the national team. The association must continue its good work and focus on football and social development of boys and girls to achieve lasting success on and off the pitch, “said the FIFA President.

At the end of the visit, the delegation, in the presence of Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath and the Curaçao Football Community, participated in the Centenary of CRKSV Jong Holland, Promé Divishon’s current title holder.

In his second appearance at the Concacaf Gold Cup in June 2019, Curaçao scored a historic first win, reaching the knockout stages of the continental championship for the first time, losing 1-0 to US regional heavyweights.
