The official emblem of the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup ™ embodies the vision of an event that connects and integrates the entire world, with striking elements of local and regional Arab culture as well as allusions to the beautiful game.
The curved curves of the emblem depict the waves of the desert dunes, and the continuous loop shows both the number eight – a reminder of the eight amazing stadiums in which the games take place – as well as the symbol of infinity, which reflects the context of the event.
The central shape of the emblem not only evokes the shape of the legendary FIFA World Cup Trophy, but is also inspired by a traditional woolen scarf. During the winter months scarves are worn all over the world and especially in the Arab and Gulf regions.
The regionally inspired winter dress also alludes to the start dates of the tournament and to the fact that this is the first FIFA World Cup ™ to be held in November and December.
The new font that accompanies the emblem interprets traditional Arabic calligraphy in a new, contemporary script inspired by the region and Asia, combining tradition with modernity.
