ICC Has Announced Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 schedule

Defending champion Bangladesh will face Papua New Guinea, while former runner-up Ireland will face Namibia in Scotland on the opening day of the 2019 ICC Women’s World Cup qualifier from 31 August to 7 September.

In the league-cum-knockout tournament, where the two qualifiers for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2020 will be decided in Australia, Scotland also face the USA and Thailand as all eight teams compete against each other at the two venues – the Forfarshire Cricket Club in Dundee and the Arbroath Cricket Club.

Namibia was named a replacement for Zimbabwe after coming second in Africa qualifying earlier this year, while the Netherlands (Europe), Papua New Guinea (East Asia-Pacific), Thailand (Asia) and the USA ( America) succeeded after winning their respective qualification. Scotland qualified as host.

The eight teams are divided into two groups to identify the semi-finalists. The winners of the two semi-finals will secure their place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in the Australian cities of Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney from the 21st of February until 8th March next year.

Bangladesh, Scotland, PNG and the US form Group A, while Group B consists of Ireland, Thailand, Namibia and the Netherlands. The matches will be played at 10:00 and 14:00, with all teams playing at both venues.

Both the semi-finals (on 5 September) and the final will be played in the Forfarshire Cricket Club. The teams may each play a warm-up game on 29 August before the tournament.
