Jonathan Trott says England can more than win the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Eoin Morgan’s team is the favorite who wins the tournament after rising to the top of the ICC rankings since the last World Cup.
England crashed in the group stage in 2015, but turned into a destructive and successful unit and won 41 of the last 54 one-match internationals.
Trott says that the chances of England winning the World Cup are “pretty high” but have also highlighted India and Australia as challengers. “At this World Cup, the defending champions are Australia, hosts England and India, who are also a very good team,” said Trott.
“England is currently the top ODI cricket team, they play at home so their chances are pretty high.”
Trott made his England debut in 2009, scoring more than 6,500 international runs and nine test centuries. His England career was interrupted by a stress-related illness and he retired from all forms of cricket at the end of last season.
“I do not think I quit the game early, I played a lot and with many young cricketers waiting in my Warwickshire district, I felt it was time for me to quit,” the former English star added , “I’m pretty happy when I’m coaching because I want to work with young minds to shape their cricketing careers.”
