India, Pakistan start Under 19 World Cup with big wins

In Group A on the third day of the ICC Under-19 World Cup, India started brilliantly by defeating Sri Lanka by 90 runs. Batting first, India scored 297/4, in response to which Sri Lankan team were all out by scoring 207 runs. Siddhesh Veer (44 * and 2/34) was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance. In Group C, Pakistan beat Scotland by seven wickets.

Playing first after losing the toss at Bloemfontein, the Indian team scored 297/4 with the help of the fifties of Yashasvi Jaiswal (59), captain Priyam Garg (56) and Dhruv Jurel (52 *) and Siddhesh Veer (27 ball 44).

In response to the big goal, only captain Nipun Dhananjay (50) from Sri Lanka could score a half-century and the entire team collapsed by scoring 207 runs in 45.2 overs. Siddhesh Veer, Ravi Bishnoi and Akash Singh took two wickets each for India.

Scotland won the toss at Potchefstroom and were all out for just 75 runs in 23.5 overs. In response to the target, Pakistan won in the 12th overs, losing three wickets. Mohammad Wasim (5/12) was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb bowling.
