Khalifa International Stadium Will Host Three Additional Matches During The FIFA Club World Cup 2019

Qatar’s Khalifa International Stadium will host three more games during the FIFA Club World Cup 2019 ™ after the official opening of the Education City Stadium has been postponed to early 2020.

In addition to the December 17 doubles – 5th place in the play-off and CONMEBOL Libertadores winner CR Flamengo’s semi-final – Khalifa International Stadium will host the second semi-final with UEFA Champions League winner Liverpool FC on 18 December, along with with the final and the play-off in third place on 21 December.

Khalifa International Stadium has a capacity of 45,416 spectators and was reopened in May 2017 following a successful refurbishment to prepare for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ™. The stadium is currently fully operational and was the scene of large crowds during the ongoing Arabian Gulf Cup. It’s also just a short walk from the nearest subway station in Doha, so fans can easily get to the venue and back.

Construction on the Education City Stadium is complete and the venue is now operational. However, the required certification process took longer than expected, which meant that the stadium was unable to fully host the required test events ahead of the semi-finals and final of the FIFA Club World Cup. The priority is to provide all fans with a pleasant experience, so it was decided to open the stadium at a later date.

By 2020, the Education City Stadium, which will host matches up to and including the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup, will be the third venue to host the tournament before 2022.

Fans who have successfully applied for Match 6 and Match 7 and 8 double-header games will not be affected. All tickets will be automatically issued to Khalifa International Stadium and their seats will be awarded in the same price category. The date and time of these games remain as before in the game plan.

All successful Ticket Applicants will receive a special email with additional information in due course, including how and when to download the Tickets from their account on FIFA.com/tickets. The use of tickets is still subject to the terms and conditions, the stadium regulations and the applicable ticket sales regulations.
