MI will envisage their third straight win after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their last two games (most recently first). While the unit led by Rohit Sharma defeated SRH by 34 runs on 208 points, they trumped KXIP and beat KL Rahul and Co. by 48 runs.
RR, on the other hand, recorded two wins from as many games against KXIP and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the start of the tournament. But they lost their last two games – to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) while they were setting the grand total and to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) while they were on target.
RR aim to break two-game losing streak while MI aim to complete a hat-trick of victories to take their fourth win at the 2020 IPL.
head to head
There’s nothing that can separate these two teams in terms of their head-to-head records. Both MI and RR have won 10 games against each other in the IPL, and one of them has a chance to win one. Here are the players who could affect the outcome of the game.
He still has fifty points left in the IPL 2020 but if the last two games are over then Hardik Pandya looks like a big and impactful inning. The all-rounder hit some meaty punches against KKR and SRH, and if he’s enjoying a good game with the bat, we’re sure to have some entertainment.
He has two straight starts against RCB and KKR and there were some big hits from Jos Buttler before he was fired in the 20’s. If the right-handed batsman hits MI – a team he played 24 games for in 2016 and 2017 – RR could score a big goal.
Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock struggled with the racket in the first few games, but returned in shape, scoring 67 of 39 balls to claim MI’s win over SRH. The MI wicketkeeper batsman who opens the innings alongside Rohit will try to enjoy another good outing with the bat.
Sanju Samson started his campaign with two heavy blows against CSK and KXIP and scored 74 and 85 points, respectively. In the following games against KKR and RCB, however, he was dismissed in the single digits. The right hander will itch to score big and when he does it will be a sight to behold.
The New Zealand pacemaker for the left arm did a remarkable job with the ball when MI defeated SRH in Sharjah, a venue that has scored more than 200 totals in all innings except for IPL 2020. Trent Boult returned with the numbers 2 / back. 28 in its four overs. While scalping the gates of Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson in the game against SRH, he will now face greats like Smith and Jos Buttler, and if he manages to beat them both, MI has the chance to win the game.
