Mumbai City FC To Pay Record Transfer Fee To Buy Hugo Boumous From FC Goa

Through a dramatic move, Mumbai City FC managed to pull off a huge transfer of Hugo Boumous, who is the most valued member of FC Goa. Since the winner of the Golden Ball has a contract with the Gaurs for two more years, the City Football Group backed side activated the release clause of the French man, which allows them to talk with the player and Mumbai City FC is set to pay around record INR 1.6 crore to FC Goa.

As per the Times of India article, Mumbai is now offering to buy the player’s contract and has sent an official mail to FC Goa to deal with the buy clause. Which means FC Goa have no choice but to let go the player.

FC Goa has always claimed that their midfield superstar is not up for sale at the moment, “if something drastic happens where someone takes a decision completely out of our hands, then we have no control” stated FC Goa’s football director Ravi Puskar.

The 25-year-old seemed unsure of his return to Goa but then shocked everyone when he shared a ‘goodbye’ update on Monday afternoon in his social media. Hour later FC Goa released a statement, “Boumous remains a contracted player with FC Goa” through their social handle.

Boumous is now the fourth FC Goa player who has switched over to Mumbai City FC this summer after Captain Mandar Rao Desai, Ahmed Jahouh from Morocco and Mourtada Fall from Senegal. All of these former FC Goa players decided to leave the club and join Mumbai after it was announced that Sergio Lobera will take over as the manager or head coach of the club.

This also creates a speculation that maybe, FC Goa’s goal machine Coro, mostly known as the scoro by FC Goa fans, might switch over to the Mumbai City FC. He is already rumoured to be in contact with the club.
