The fifth series of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 for men takes place this week as Nepal hosts the U.S. and Oman and the battle for India continues in 2023.
Nepal will make its debut, with Oman and the USA both playing in their third tri-series. The US is currently top of the table with 12 points from eight games, and Oman has eight points from six games in the overall standings.
The fifth of the 21 series in the 2nd division will be played in Kathmandu from February 5 to 12, where six one-day caps will be played. Each team plays four ODIs during the series, with a maximum of eight points available to each team.
Duleep Mendis, national coach of Oman Cricket, said: “Oman is looking forward to the series in Nepal. We have had two successful tri-series in Scotland and Oman. Oman is fully prepared and very interested in our job of qualifying for the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup for men in India. We expect a highly competitive tournament in Nepal. “
After completing the 21 Tri-Series, the top three teams will confirm their place in the ICC Men’s 2022 Cricket World Cup qualifier. The bottom four teams will go into the men’s 2022 Cricket World Cup qualifier – a repechage event to the Global Qualifier – and the winner of Challenge League A and B.
The two best teams in the play-off will be their hope of participating in India in 2023 with the qualification for the Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2022. Click here for the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 Qualification.
