Looks like the road to an entry into the ISL is closing for East Bengal. On Friday, FSDL and it’s stakeholders had where they discussed about the 2020/21 season and made it clear that they have no intention to add another team into the ISL for now.
Which the other Kolkata big house club East Bengal, who have been trying to enter the ISL after Mohun Bagan announced their merger with ATK, will have to wait another season.
NO TO EAST BENGAL’S ISL ENTRY DREAM
The Indian Super League governing body, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) had a online meeting with the stakeholders and also club representatives were part of the meeting, and at the end they came to some conclusion and one of that is that ISL won’t include another team for this season, according to a report by Goal.
With no intention of bringing in another franchise or club means that East Bengal, who have been trying to enter the ISL from the moment Mohun Bagan announced it’s merger with ISL side ATK.
However, East Bengal made it clear that they won’t be merging with another ISL side to join the competition, they will bring in investor and then enter the ISL by themselves. But East Bengal took it too long as they had a NOC and Sporting Rights issue with their former investor Quess.
If some recent reports are to be believed, East Bengal have agreed to join hand with Prasoon Mukherjee’s company Universal Success Enterprise Limited, but it is still not known where they will be playing this season, I-League or ISL.
ISL FIXTURES AVAILABLE ON AUGUST END
The other topics that were decided are, the venue of the Indian Super League (ISL) will be announced on 7th August with Goa favourite over Kerala. While, they are also working on ISL 7 fixtures and it is expected to made available publicly on 31st August.
While they also mentioned that the pre-season will begin from 1st to 10 October and the ISL season 7 will start in between 20 to 23rd November.
