Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Kulasekara has retired from international cricket. Nuwan also appealed to the Sri Lankan Cricket Board to arrange a farewell match and Sports Minister Harin Fernando was also prepared to give him a chance in the third ODI against Bangladesh.
Despite the sports minister’s preparation, the selectors have made it clear that they can not include such a player in the team, who has not played domestic cricket recently. At the same time, the first match of the three ODIs is the last match of Lasith Malinga’s ODI career. After this match he will also say goodbye to cricket.
Nuwan Kulasekara was part of the 2014 T-20 World Cup winning team. In the title match, he gave away just 29 runs and took a crucial wicket of Yuvraj Singh. Nuwan has played 184 ODIs, 21 Tests and 58 T20 Internationals, taking a total of 313 wickets.
