The Pakistan Football Super League (PFSL), which involves foreign players, will take place at three different venues this October, FATA Olympic Association president Shahid Khan Shinwari said on Monday.
“It’s a ten-year plan. In the opening edition, five franchise teams will use their teams in the league, “he told a press conference here at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) media center.
Shinwari, who is also president of the FATA Football Association and a former national footballer, said the league will be played in Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta. “We take the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and meet with them.
We will also write them to give us NOC (no appeal certificate) for the league, “he said. He said the league would not work without government support, adding that the final form of the league would come from intergovernmental cooperation.
He said players were selected from three categories, Platinum, Gold and Silver. In the Platinum category, players from World Cup nations such as Brazil, Spain, Russia and Asian countries are selected. Each team has two foreign players in this category, “he added.
He said that Pakistan’s current international football players would be selected among the gold category, while in silver, the emerging players in the countries would be selected.
This first of these exhibition events will take place on Thursday at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad between a FATA club and a team from Islamabad and Wah Club, he added.
He said Senate Sadiq Sanjrani will be the main guest of the game. “We also invited the country’s legendary players to witness this game,” he added.
He asked the PFF to grant voting rights to the FATA Football Association.
