The glowing half-century of Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro scored a comfortable eight-wicket win for Islamabad United against Multan Sultans in Saturday’s fifth HBL PSL 2020 game at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The openers entered into a 92-run partnership in 9.5 overs, with Untied pursuing the 165-run goal in 16.4 overs.
Ronchi smashed nine fours and two sixes in his 45-ball 74, while Munro, who hit three fours and four sixes, made 50 runs with 32 balls.
Dawid Malan was the other notable run-getter. The left-hander was unbeaten with 35 of 21 balls.
Previously, all-rounder, Amad Butt played the ball for United, returning four to 27 after United’s captain Shadab Khan had been chosen first.
Zeeshan Ashraf made 50 out of 29 balls in which he hit four fours and three sixes. Opener James Vince made 42 out of 31, hit six fours and six and built a 41-run opening stand with Captain Shan Masood (21 out of 20).
Faheem Ashraf took two gates for 34 runs, while Mohammad Musa and Akif Javed each took one.
On Sunday, Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators will meet at 2:00 p.m. at the National Stadium in Karachi, and Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will play at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
