The Rangpur Rangers finally left the losing streak behind when they defeated Sylhet Thunder in a match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Delpor’s rapid-fire fifty helped them fully pursue the goal of 134. Despite the victory, the Rangers remained in sixth place on the table with 4 points, while Thunder also remained in the bottom position with only 1 win in 8 games.
Sylhet’s start was not what they would expect as they lost both openers Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles early on. Before Mohammad Mithun dropped out as the sixth batsman, he had the top 62 runs when other batsmen competed against a disciplined Rangpur bowling show led by Mustafizur Rahman. Sylhet managed to book 133 for 9, while Mustafizur scaled 3 gates for 10.
Rangpur started their innings with the early departure of skipper Shane Watson on the 5th, but the early setback didn’t bother the Rangers when Cameron Delport and Naim Sheikh added 99 runs in the 2nd wicket.
Delport’s hard blow stopped when Naveen-Ul-Haq released him after 63 runs of 28 balls. Naim Sheikh and Mohammad Nabi remained undefeated on 38 and 18, respectively, when Rangers chased the goal with 7 gates and 16 balls.
