The fifth round of the Ranji Trophy 2019-20 ended on Tuesday. The biggest embarrassing defeat was for Mizoram against Meghalaya. They were defeated by an innings and 425 runs. Apart from this, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir and Andhra also won. Cheteshwar Pujara’s team Saurashtra and Baroda had a draw against their respective opponent. Pujara had scored a brilliant double century for his team.
The brief condition of the matches on the last day was as follows:
Group A
Rajasthan vs Gujarat
The match was drawn on the last day. Rajasthan scored 360 runs in the first innings. In reply, Gujarat scored 216 runs for one wicket in the second innings. Priyank Panchal and Samit Gohel scored unbeaten centuries.
Hyderabad vs Andhra
Andhra declared the first innings by scoring 489 runs for eight wickets. The Hyderabad team was dismissed for 168 runs in the second innings and lost the match by an innings and 96 runs.
Group B
Uttar Pradesh vs Baroda
This match was a draw. In the second innings, Baroda scored 113 runs for one wicket. Uttar Pradesh’s first innings was limited to 431 runs and Baroda scored 230 runs in the first innings.
Karnataka vs Saurashtra
The match ended in a draw. Karnataka scored 220 for four wickets while playing a follow-on. Saurashtra declared the first innings by scoring 581 runs for seven wickets. Karnataka’s first innings was reduced to 171 runs.
Tamil Nadu vs Mumbai
The match was a draw. Tamil Nadu scored 48 runs for one wicket while playing follow-on. Mumbai had scored 488 runs in the first innings. In reply, Tamil Nadu’s first innings was reduced to 324 runs.
Madhya Pradesh vs Railways
The match lasted until the end and the draw ended. Chasing a target of 211 runs, Railways scored 205 for five.
Group C
Uttarakhand vs Tripura
This match was a draw. In the second innings, Uttarakhand scored 148 for eight and the day’s play ended.
Maharashtra vs Jharkhand
Chasing a target of 48 from Jharkhand, Maharashtra won by eight wickets.
Services vs Jammu and Kashmir
Jammu and Kashmir defeated the Services by a huge margin of 173 runs. Chasing a target of 320 runs, the army team was reduced to 146 runs. After scoring a century, Parvez Rasool also took three wickets in the second innings.
Odisha vs Haryana
Chasing a target of 179 runs, Odisha won by a close margin of one wicket.
Chhattisgarh vs Assam
This match was a draw. In the second innings, Chhattisgarh scored 252 runs for five wickets.
Plate Group
Nagaland vs Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal’s team chased the target of 334 runs and scored 152 runs for four wickets and the match was a draw.
Sikkim vs Chandigarh
Playing in the second innings, Sikkim scored 69 for three, the match ended in a draw.
Goa vs Puducherry
In this match, Goa won by 81 runs. Chasing a target of 266 runs, Puducherry’s team was able to score 184 runs.
Meghalaya vs Mizoram
Mizoram lost by an innings and 425 runs.
