RCB started their campaign with a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before losing to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). However, virat Kohli’s lead bounced back stylistically, recording two back-to-back victories. First, they defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in a Super Over thriller and sealed a comprehensive victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their fourth game.
DC also got off to a successful start to their IPL 2020 trip after beating KXIP in a Super Over. The Shreyas Iyer-led team won their second game on the bounce, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs. In their third game, however, DC was overthrown by Sunrisers Hyderabad. But the team returned to the winning road after the victory against The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their last game.
A win in today’s game will propel one of the teams to the top of the points table and here are the players who could play a crucial role in making it happen.
The RCB skipper didn’t score too many goals in his first three outings in the 2020 IPL, but Virat Kohli returned to form and did so in some way against RR. The right-hander scored a match-winning 72* from 53 balls and went over 5500 IPL runs. Virat will look forward to adding to his performance against RR when RCB vs. DC.
Shreyas Iyer cleared the fence for fun during his 88-run unbeaten Blitz against KKR. The DC captain hit seven fours and six sixes in his 38-ball stay in the middle. While the venue for the RCB game is not Sharjah, Iyer will be eager to continue in the same way.
Devdutt Padikkal continued to impress in his first IPL season after scoring his third fifty of four games against RR. The left-hander, who opened the batting, hit 63 from 45 balls and played a pivotal role in the RCB’s third win of the season. RCB will want the youngster to come good if they are aiming for their fourth win.
While Kagiso Rabada does his part for DC, Anrich Nortje is not too far back. The right paceman took three wickets and was the bowler’s choice for DC when they beat KKR. Iyer will rely on his bowling if his side takes on the power of Kohli, AB de Villiers, Aaron Finch, and Davdutt Padikkal.
With eight wickets against his name, Yuzvendra Chahal holds the top spot in the list of leading wicket-taker in the 2020 IPL. The clever leg-spinner recorded his second three-wicket run to win RCB over RR. It will be fascinating to see how he comes across his game against the big hitters like Prithvi Shaw, Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rishabh Pant.
