IPL Auction for Indian Premier League 2020 season is coming closer and closer. All the IPL franchises have already announced their retained and released player names among which KKR has went on to release their hard-hitting opener batsman Chris Lynn.
Today we take a look at why KKR decided to release this all-important opener of their team.
1) Price Tag
KKR released their retained player names on 15th of November which was the deadline to announce all the retained and released player names, KKR went on to release their Australian opener batsman Chris Lynn, KKR fans think the reason for his release is because of his price. KKR was paying 9.6 Crore which was the 2nd highest price after Sunil Narine who gets 12 Crore among all the KKR player.
2) Resign him in lower price
One more reason that the fans think is that KKR might be thinking about signing him back to the team for a lower price than they were paying him in 2019 season
3) Promote Shubman Gill
So now that Lynn is gone it is confirmed that Shubman Gill will now open for the knights, he was seen opening for the team along with Chris Lynn which demoted Sunil Narine from opening resulting in Narine’s bad performance with the bat, Sunil Narine is known for his big-hitting but after demotion, he was unable to strike big which KKR might not want in 2020 because he can give them flying start, Shubman Gill has also done well for them while opening, so this can also be a reason of Lynn’s removal
The Aussie has played 41 matches and scored 1280 runs, in this spell he has smashed 63 sixes, he has a strike rate of 140.66
KKR will have the 2nd highest money available so they are expected to buy-in some big player, they have 35.65 crores in their wallet as they prepare for the IPL Auction to be held on 19th December in Kolkata
