RR v RCB | IPL 2020 Match 33 Highlights
It took RCB 178 runs to win and started vigilantly before Aaron Finch faced Jofra Archer in the third game and hit two sixes against the Speedster with his right arm.
Finch, however, dropped out in the next game when Shreya’s Gopal RR gave the first breakthrough after Robin Uthappa completed the catch.
Virat Kohli came to Devdutt Padikkal in the middle and the two hit three fours in the next two overs to bring RCB to 47/1 at the end of the power play.
The Padikkal-Kohli duo finished the 50-run stand after Kohli scored a six in the tenth round ahead of Shreyas Gopal. RCB added 25 runs over the next three overs to get over a hundred.
However, RCB lost Padikkal and Kohli in successive deliveries. While Padikkal was out for a long time, Kohli got off for 43 after Rahul Tewatia made a good catch on the deep boundary rope in the middle of the wicket.
RCB was 104/3 after 14 overs, taking 75 runs in the last six overs to cross the finish line. In the next four overs, RCB scored 39 runs, with AB de Villiers hitting two sixes and one four to take 28 of 16 balls.
RCB had to score 35 runs from the last two overs and ABD turned it on and did it in a style. Mr 360 hammered three sixes on the first three balls – first over cover, second over long-on and third over deep backward square. Cucumber Council Singh Mann also hit a four when RCB scored 25 points, reducing the target from 6 deliveries to 10.
RCB scored those 10 runs in 4 deliveries when ABD finished the game at six, winning its fifty winners in the process. Previously, after taking the bat, RR had opened the innings with Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes.
While the two of the first two overs made only five runs, Uthappa and RR shifted into gear in the third over when the right-hander hit four fours in front of Washington Sundar.
Uthappa creamed a ride through the outside to start the procedure and followed her with three fours through the leg side. Uthappa kept attacking when he hit a six and a four, while Stokes hit his first four of the game when RR 17 scored the fourth hit and switched to 38/0.
While RR raised their fifty in the power play final, they also lost Stokes in the same game after gifting AB de Villiers one of Chris Morris’ bowling.
Meanwhile, Uthappa, who had previously completed 4,500 IPL runs, added two more four to his account in the seventh game.
RCB struck twice in eighth over Yuzvendra Chahal. First he caught Uthappa in the middle of the wicket after the right-hander scored 41 of 22 balls, and then the wicket of Sanju Samson, who was caught long-off by Morris.
Jos Buttler and Steve Smith then merged and had a rebuilding job in hand. Buttler quickly got off the blocks when he switched to 17 of 13 at four and six. Meanwhile, Smith kept the scoreboard going as he and Buttler completed the 50-run stand on the 15th and Smith hit two fours in the over.
While Smith hit a six and a four in the following game, RR Buttler lost in the same game after Morris picked his second wicket. RR scored 19 out of the 18th over bowling from Chahal and Smith brought his fifty out of 30 deliveries. Tewatia then cream a six and a four in the year before last.
Morris then added two more wickets to his account in the final and RR posted 177/6 on the board.
