Event: Australia Tour Of South Africa 2020
Match: 2nd ODI
Venue: Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, South Africa
Date & Time: 1:00 pm local and 11:00 am GMT | Wednesday 4 March 2020
After improving South Africa in the T20Is, it now has the opportunity to secure a much-needed series victory if it takes on Australia in the second ODI in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, March 4th.
AUS vs SA match will go live from Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein, South Africa at 1:00 pm local and 11:00 am GMT.
The hosts defeated Australia by 74 runs in the first ODI, and there were signs that the victory of old problems was fading. Throughout this series, including the T20Is, South Africa has been desperate to support Quinton de Kock with the bat, and Heinrich Klaasen coped well with his first ODI century in Paarl, while David Miller and Kyle Verreynne provided the support.
The bowlers also impressed with Keshav Maharaj, who played his first ODI since 2018, took a wicket and included Australia along with Andile Phehlukwayo and Tabraiz Shamsi in the middle of the overs. This confirmed South Africa’s decision to use three pacemakers and two spinners, as the team seemed more balanced with this combination. It is likely that they will stay with the same XI at Bloemfontein ODI.
After the first ODI defeat, Steve Smith spoke about how difficult it was for the Maharaj-Shamsi duo. “I don’t think we barely hit a ball offside,” he said, and a few continued to slide. “
With the series, Australia will want its batsmen to quickly figure out how to deal with the spin twins.
What happened last time when they met?
South Africa opted for a punch and Klaasen hammered a 114-ball 128 * to help them post 291/7, along with Verreynnes 64-ball 48 and Millers 70-ball 64. Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje then took five Gates between themselves as Australia were thrown for 217 in 45.1 overs.
Heinrich Klaasen (South Africa): “It is always good to know that your trainer supports you,” he said. “We have a good relationship that has changed in the past few months before he showed up.”
Steve Smith (Australian ): “Sometimes you just get a little nervous and feel like you have to take a risk, and unfortunately it never really worked when we did.”
