Shoaib Malik powers Pakistan to 1-0 lead against Bangladesh

Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets in the first T20 match played in Lahore. Bangladesh team scored 141 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Pakistan achieved this target easily by losing 5 wickets. Shoaib Malik was adjudged Man of the Match for his fine half-century innings (58 runs *). Haris Rauf and Ahsan Ali made their T20Is debut for Pakistan.

Earlier Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah won the toss and decided to bat. Bangladesh had a very good start. The opening pair of Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Naim shared a 71-run partnership in 11 overs for the first wicket. Tamim Iqbal scored 39 and Mohammad Naim scored 43 runs. However, the rest of the batsmen could not take advantage of this good start, so the guest team could score only 142 runs in 20 overs.

Pakistan also did not have a good start to chase the target. Opener and captain Babar Azam was dismissed without opening the account on the second ball of the first over. After this, Mohammad Hafeez and Ahsan Ali shared the innings with a 35-run partnership for the second wicket. Hafeez scored 17 and Ehsan Ali scored 36. After this, the experienced Shoaib Malik in the middle order scored an unbeaten 58 off 45 balls with the help of 5 fours and the team reached the goal.

With this victory, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. The second match will be played in Lahore on 25 January. And the last one will be played on the 27th of January.
