The Pakistani cricket selectors have named a 15-player T20I team for the upcoming series against South Africa, which includes a change from the one who defeated Australia and New Zealand with identical 3-0 margins.
Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has returned to the side and replaced Waqas Maqsood. The games will take place on February 1-3 in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Centurion, with Pakistan claiming the highest rank to extend its unbeaten run to nine games. In 2018, Pakistan won a world record of 17 T20I.
Asif Ali and Sahibzada Farhan have been included in the team currently involved in one-day internationals. The players who return home after playing over 50 games are: Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood.
Asif had a successful Mzansi Super League in South Africa in which he scored 150 runs for the Cape Town Blitz with a hit rate of over 180. In a 16-member T20I career, Asif scored 237 runs with a hit rate of just under 140.
Farhan scored 0, 39 and one in his three T20I innings, but in 22 T20 games, he scored 452 runs with a hit rate below 110.
Pakistani cricket selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said: “Once again, the selectors have continued the policy of maintaining consistency and maintaining a successful combination.
“While we are very focused on this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup, we can not forget that the ICC T20 World Cup will take place in Australia in the second half of 2020. So we have to give our future appearance so much attention and experience players as possible without compromising on the upcoming tasks. “
