West Indian Selectors have retained the same ODI squad that recently defeated Afghanistan 3-0, while Fabian Allen returns to the T20I side because of limited West Indies relegations against India.
Allen, who suffered a knee injury in the first T20I against Afghanistan earlier this month and missed the remaining two matches, has recovered and will be included in the T20I squad for the series against India. Even Denesh Ramdin, who was struggling with a hamstring pain, is fit for a return.
Batsman Shai Hope and Paceman Alzarri Joseph are the two surprise exclusions from the T20I squad. Less than a year away from the T20 World Championship of the ICC Men 2020, the selectors are trying out different permutations and combinations to give new talent a chance.

“We have three games in each format, so we wanted to give every squad the chance to play against India,” said West Indian head coach Phil Simmons. “No disregard for Afghanistan, but it’s going to be harder to beat India and our players have kept track of things with a 3-0 victory in the ODIs [against Afghanistan] and I think we’ll move from strength to strength.” ,
“In the T20 this will be another chance for them to play and develop … The next ICC T20 World Championship will take place in Australia and the following one in India, so, first of all, we have to make a lot of preparations for Australia We have given the players here a chance in this series, and we know we have players out there who may join later, so it’s good to give them another chance. “
Chris Gayle is another absentee of both teams, who decided not to participate in the India Series and use the time outside of cricket to reflect on his future in international cricket.
