West Indies Disclose Squad For U19 Cricket World Cup 2020

West Indies have named a 14-member squad for the upcoming ICC U19 Cricket World Cup, which will take place in January and February 2020 in South Africa.

The 16-man competition with tournament debutants Japan and Nigeria begins on January 17 with a Kimberley match between host South Africa and Afghanistan.

India is the reigning champion of the ICC U19 Cricket World Championship after winning the previous edition of the tournament in New Zealand in 2018. The future national players Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Shaheen Afridi, and Tom Banton appeared in this competition.

West Indies, who won the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup for the only time in their history in 2016, defeated Australia in Kimberley on 18 January. Two of the squads of West Indies, Nyeem Young, and Ashmead Nedd, participated in the 2018 tournament.

Young won the “Player of the Match” award in the quarter-final win over Ireland in the West Indies and scored 55 * in just 33 balls when his team lost 279 with 10 remaining balls.
