Following the opening of the 2019 double-match season this past weekend, the Memphis women’s tennis team will remain on the road for three games this weekend in Arizona.
The Tigers (0-2) are ready for a double fight against Arizona and Northern Arizona on Friday in Tucson, before completing the weekend with a match at Arizona State Sunday in Tempe.
Memphis will compete against Arizona at 11:00 am (CT). The competition against Northern Arizona is scheduled at 15.30. (CT). The first serve on Sunday in the state of Arizona is at 11 clock (CT).
Memphis lost two games last week at the first appearance of the ITA kick-off weekend since last week. After the Tigers had fallen at the season opener in Vanderbilt, the Tigers fell out 4: 3 against Winthrop. Junior Claire Sullivan, Sophomore Laura Bente and freshman Aleks Topalovic, each one wins the last race.
The game on Friday marks the season opener for Arizona. The Wildcats hit a 9-16 mark last spring and return seven to their 2019 squad. Senior Emma Wilson finished the fall season in # 86 on the Oracle / ITA leaderboard.
The lumberjacks in northern Arizona (1-1) parted last weekend. NAU claimed a win against UC Davis to open his season before dropping in Arizona State. The Lumberjacks are led by Chiara Tomasetti, who ranks 75th in the country.
The State of Arizona (3-2) began the season with three wins before dropping at the ITA launch weekend in Columbia, Wake Forest and Cal. The Sun Devils also have a nationally ranked player in Cali Jankowski who is ranked 84th.
Arizona and NAU both won the individual competitions in the respective series history against the tigers. The tigers are 0-0 against Arizona State.
