Guyana Amazon Warriors scored the perfect ten in CPL 2019 and won all the group stage matches to become the first team in the tournament’s history.
The Warriors defeated Trinbago Knight Riders, the defending champion, with seven wins to ensure their league campaign went well. They are in the lead with a full 20 points, while the Knight Riders scored a six-point victory in games, finishing fourth with nine points.
The Warriors meet Barbados Tridents in their first qualifier, while the Knight Riders meet in the eliminator on St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

The last group game in Providence was an encounter with few points. The Knight Riders scored 143/5, mainly thanks to Lendl Simmons (30 out of 24), Colin Munro (43 out of 40) and Kieron Pollard (36 * out of 27). But that would never seriously threaten the Warriors, especially if Nicholas Pooran set all weapons on fire.
The Knight Riders had the hope of causing a collapse when Chandrapaul Hemraj (12 of 16), Brandon King (33 of 23) and Shimron Hetmyer (9 of 10) were fired within four overs and the Warriors reduced to 59/3.
However, Shoaib Malik and Pooran combined and set up an uninterrupted 85-run booth for the fourth wicket to complete the pursuit with eight remaining balls. Malik came to an end with a 29-ball 28 *, while Pooran did the aggressive part and scored a 35-ball 54 * that included five fours and three sixes.

Malik, the captain of the Warriors, said the unbeaten run “felt great,” but emphasized that his team should realize that the task is not done yet. “When I look at this changing room, all the players have the potential,” he said in the post-match presentation. “You simply did not cross the border. You have an opportunity here. Sunday [first qualifier] is an important game and we focus on it. “
