South Africa coach Mark Boucher said AB de Villiers will fight for a spot in the XI later this year at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia if he is available for selection.
De Villiers announced his retirement from international cricket in May 2018. Since then, however, there has been speculation about his return to the site, especially last year before the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
With the T20 World Cup in Australia in just over eight months, de Villier’s possible return has come up again, and Boucher said he had no hesitation in choosing the batsman, provided he was ready and ready to play.

Despite his resignation in 2018, de Villiers still lit the gate in various franchise T20 leagues. He scored 326 runs at 46.42 with an impressive hit rate of 152.58 in the Mzansi Super League 2019-20 in South Africa. He followed with 146 runs from six innings for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League 2019-20 and put on the wicket-keeping gloves for the last two league games.
South Africa went to England on Sunday 16 February in a highly competitive T20I series with three goals and will host Australia for three more T20Is and as many ODIs as of Friday. They are expected to announce their squad for the series soon, and whether de Villiers will return remains to be seen.
