If Shane Warne were to go, Usman Khawaja would not be selected in Australia’s 15-man squad for the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Khawaja is the leading scorer in one-day internationals in 2019, with 769 runs in 13 games with an average of 59.15. Nevertheless, Warne, who picked his pick of fifteen, left out the left-handed batsman of the first order.
Warne chose instead D’Arcy Short, who played only four ODIs since November 2018 and since November 2018 has not played one. Short was selected to open alongside David Warner. Aaron Finch, the ODI captain, was pushed down to third, Steve Smith on the two drop.
