Australia captain Aaron Finch wants to play Test Cricket once again, after having mostly struggled with Test Whites.
“For me personally, it’s probably about finding a really good entry into the test team,” Finch told SEN Radio. “The young people who came in and did well in the last half of last summer did a really good job and I still think I’ve got a really good break.”
Finch, who has been part of the national team since 2011, snuck in only in tests last year and played five games between October and December 2018. Unfortunately, this coincided with a cross-format crash – Finch scored only two goals over fifty Test innings in ten games, while in ODIs, there was only one notable score in his first nine innings in 2019 before joining Back in March at Sharjah in March -to-back centuries struck.

After a successful World Championship (507 runs at 50.70), where he was the # 2 top scorer in Australia behind David Warner, Finch’s next mission is to return to the longest format. Finch was eliminated from the Sri Lanka tests earlier this year, and Kurtis Patterson made an impression on his maiden voyage to Finch, slamming an unbeaten ton in just his second inning for Australia.
With Travis Head and Joe Burns, also centuries behind, Finch has seen the competition rise. He recognizes the need to play a number of first-class games and achieve significant scores when looking forward to returning to the test field. He is currently in Victoria for the Marsh One-Day Cup.
“Obviously, I’ll just try to get some runs, some big runs, that’s my plan,” Finch said. “I think the young kids who came in took advantage of their opportunities, Kurtis Patterson and Travis Head, these guys got in and did pretty well when they played.
“Kurtis scored a hundred points in the last test he played, Will Pucovski and the whole bunch of young fighters coming through are so talented that I think I have a boost for me, if not.” happen, then it does not happen. Finch opened in all of his five tests, unlike the middle-ranking roles he holds mainly for Victoria. Although he admits that he prefers not to open, but he does not mind taking a top spot for Victoria if this helps to improve his chances in Australia.
“At the moment, there are many top-class players in Victoria, so a game could be the first start,” he said. “I think the middle order is probably going to be my favorite place, I know that last summer’s opening session was one of the first I did in a longer format, but you take every opportunity to play for Australia. “
