Australia made a clean sweep 3–0 in the series after beating New Zealand by 279 runs on the fourth day in the Sydney Test. Chasing a target of 416 runs from Australia, the Kiwi team was dismissed for just 136 runs. In this way Australia won the match by a large margin. Marnus Labuschagne was voted Man of the Match and Man of the Series.
Aussie batsmen batted tremendously from the beginning of the day. David Warner teamed up with Joe Burns for a century partnership for the first wicket. Burns was dismissed for forty. Warner continued his batting and scored an unbeaten century. Marnus Labuschagne also scored 59 runs and Australia’s second innings was declared on a total of 217 for two. In this way, New Zealand got a big and difficult target of 416 runs.
In response, the batsmen of the Kiwi team, who came out to play, collapsed like cards in the bowling of Australia. Five of their batsmen could not even touch the figure of ten. Only Colin de Grandhom was the batsman who scored the highest score of 52 and took the team beyond 100. Australia had scored 454 runs in the first innings. In response, the New Zealand team was dismissed after scoring 256 runs. Marnus Labuschagne, who performed best with the bat throughout the series, was also named Man of the Match along with Man of the Series.
