The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set the travel guidelines of WAGs (Wives and Friends of Players) for the upcoming Cricket World Cup in England. It is now clear that the immediate families of the players will not spend more than fifteen days with them during the one-month World Event.
India Today can confirm that players have no WAGs for the first twenty days from the time Team India leaves for the UK. Subsequently, families can come 15 days after the first 20 days of the tournament.
The Indian captain Virat Kohli had previously requested permission from the BCCI to allow WAGs to play at any time during the World Cup. Now he agrees with the new policy of the World Cup match.

“The top team management has discussed this 15-day action and is on the same page with this agreement,” confirmed a BCCI representative.
The Indian team will depart for the UK coast on May 22, and would be in the preparatory phase to complete two league games before the WAGs can join their partners.
It was also decided that the accompanying WAGs will not travel on the team bus, but on a separate bus or in a private transport. Unlike the last India tour of England, all players travel together on the team bus, not internal travel.
More than half of the Indian team selected for the World Cup is married, and WAGs have traveled with overseas players in accordance with BCCI rules in the past.
The opinion is shared when the presence of the wives and partners during the tour appreciates the performance of the players or acts as a distraction. But skipper Kohli, who is married to Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, has commented on how her presence helped his cricket.
