Pakistan’s latest tempo sensation Mohammad Hasnain has promised to surprise the opponents of the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales and has worked a lot on his bowling action and variety for the mega-event.
“I have a surprise for the World Cup,” said Hyderabad-born Hasnain. “I did a lot of bowling thanks to my coach at the NCA,” he said.
Hasnain made his international debut in Sharjah against Australia on March 24 of this year and booked his place in the national team for the mega-event due to his searing tempo and hard work.

Previously, he made history by becoming the first Hyderabad cricketer ever to be selected for the World Cup, mainly due to his impressive show in the Pakistan Super League, where he regularly scored 151 kph.
What is really encouraging is the fact that Hasnain, who comes from humble family background, does not put extra pressure on the World Cup and takes a positive attitude to reach his full potential.
“The only change I’m feeling is that I’m playing cricket at international level from club cricket in Hyderabad, Alhamdolillah. But honestly, I do not feel pressure or nervousness, “he said.
“I felt pressure in the first phase I threw in the PSL, but since then I have been comfortable bowling,” said Hasnain, who is considered Pakistan’s future pace asset.
In his first encounter with Australian openers in Sharjah, he struck a wild doorman, ducking Usman Khawaja and then slapping Aaron Finch’s helmet on it. “The opposition does not impress me. I told myself if they [Australians] are there to beat, I’m here to bowl, “said the boy.
He added that although he is very passionate about his bowling, he does not believe that he makes strange gestures to the bats to show his aggression. “Referees always tell us to avoid such things in the field, and I personally believe in it. Hasnain admitted he has improved a lot since PSL and learned from other bowlers. Concerning his bowling action, which seemed a bit cumbersome, Hasnain claimed that he did not have time to work on it at PSL, but since then he has worked with full focus on it.
He announced that he has done a great deal of work to give his bowling more flow and variety rather than just speeding. “I’ve worked with coaches and have found differences in my bowling and I sincerely hope that I’ll do better in England,” he said.
Hasnain has worked regularly with bowling coach Azhar Mahmood to improve his pace, rhythm and slower performances. Hasnain made his first-class debut at PTV in September 2018, but missed the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League by injury.
However, God succeeded him and later became the star of the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 4, using the man of the match prize after claiming 3-30 against Peshawar Zalmi in the final.
Of course, his family members, fans and cricket organizers in Hyderabad are euphoric about his selection and his international debut. The teenager said he had not had a chance to meet Pakistan’s legendary speedboats Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, who denied a one-time brief interaction with the latter in the PSL, but hoped the greats would pass some useful tips to him. “Waqar Bhai is also my ideal at bowling,” he said.
Hasnain – who has been described by Shane Watson as the fastest teen – recognizes that fitness is crucial to keeping his pace. He said that due to the slow tracks in the United Arab Emirates, he could not score many goals against Aussies, but will do his best to beat England.
