Englishwoman Heather Knight, who defeated a hamstring injury, will lead the team on July 3 at the three-day international stage of Women’s Ashes.
England has announced its squad for the inaugural ODI of the multi-format Ashes, which will take place on July 2 on the floor of Grace Road in Leicestershire. Skipper Heather Knight, who failed to play in the second match of the recently completed Twenty20 International series against West Indies and miss the rainy third game, will lead the 14-man squad.

The 28-year-old, who has recently run 148 races in three ODIs against the West Indies, is looking forward to the Australian challenge. “We are very excited now and just want to get started,” Knight said. “You play cricket for series like this, they’re special, so we’re all just on the right track.”

The 14-member group is identical to the one selected before the ODI series against the West Indies. Even the fast bowler Katherine Brunt returns from her back injury and will lead England’s new attack against Australia.

The previous Ashes in 2017 ended in an 8-8 draw and Australia retained the urn after winning the 2015 series as well.
