Llyse Perry set a career best time of 7/22 and won 194 times in England’s third one-match international Women’s Ashes match.
Perry more than made up for a rare bat failure in Australia’s 269/7 and reduced England to 21/6 on Sunday, July 7, a result that could not be easily recovered.
While Megan Rubble maintained pressure at one end, Perry skillfully used the Canterbury slope to extract the late swing. England, whose betting wagered on all series, had few answers for 75, who have conceded the ODM leg of the multi-format series 3-0 and a 6-0 lead in points.

The Australian all-rounder beat in her third delivery and Amy Jones hit in the middle. She then returned to have Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor in consecutive deliveries – Beaumont was in the lead and Taylor prevailed against an out-swinger.
Heather Knight and Danielle Wyatt dropped in another double wicket, with Wyatt also picked up by the movement to finish Perry’s third ODI with five.

England did not have the shame of collapsing to a new low – the unwanted record is 50 – but they were nevertheless humbled in their second-biggest defeat by runs to Australia.
Previously, Australia had lost opening day Nicole Bolton early to Anya Shrubsole. However, Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning both made a half-century in a 109 run stand for the second wicket. Nat Sciver caused a collapse in the middle when Australia slipped from 130/1 to 161/4.
Their batting came through again as late posts increased in order to 269/7. It was a competitive sum that was quickly out of the reach of England.
Teams will play a friendly in Taunton on 18 July before moving on to Twenty20 Internationals.
