Virat Kohli scored his 39th ODI score and became the eleventh-highest run-getter of the format during the second ODI against Australia in the Adelaide Oval on Tuesday. He played superbly for his 104 of 112 balls before dropping to Jhye Richardson. Kohli is already in second place of most of the century makers in one-day internationals and on a day when India needed his captain for a steep chase, he brought forth another master class.
This is Virat Kohli’s sixth ODI one hundred against Australia. Only Sachin Tendulkar (9) and Rohit Sharma (7) have scored more ODI centuries against the Aussies. The great West Indian Desmond Haynes also scored 6 hundredths against Australia. This was also Kohlis fifth in Australia.
This was Kohli’s first ODI 100 against Australia since January 20, 2016 in Canberra. In the next three years Kohli played seven ODIs against the Australians before the game in Adelaide, but reached on September 21, 2017, a Best of 92 in the Eden Gardens.
