New Zealand has withdrawn Daniel Vettori’s No. 11 jersey in honor of the team’s former captain and left-hander.
The Black Caps have decided to cancel the back numbers of the players representing New Zealand in over 200 ODIs. Vettori played 291 ODIs for New Zealand, garnering 297 goals and scoring 2253 goals in these games before demonstrating his stellar career at the end of the 2015 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

He is also one of only three players to have ever reached the doubles of over 300 wickets and over 4,000 runs in tests – he has 362 wickets and 4531 runs.
The Black Caps tweeted about the development and at the same time announced the number of players for the test series against Sri Lanka, which begins on 14 August.
All of Stephen Fleming, Brendon McCullum, Chris Harris, Ross Taylor, Nathan Astle and Chris Cairns have also played at least 200 ODIs for New Zealand. It is not yet clear, though, that the jersey numbers of all of them will also retire.
