Asad Qaiser, Speaker of the National Assembly, has shortlisted members of the ruling parties and the opposition to represent Pakistan at an inter-parliamentary cricket tournament that will take place in England this year, July 8-15.
Parliamentarians from eight countries participating in the ICC World Cup will take part in the Inter-Parliamentary Cricket Tournament, which takes place next to the ICC Cricket World Cup.
To ensure the participation of a well-prepared team in the tournament, the Speaker National Assembly included the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the training of parliamentarians while appointing Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi as the organizer of the cricket national team. Qureshi already has cricket experience at the university and district levels.
PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has nominated the former test cricketer and National Cricket Academy director Mudassar Nazar as the main person to prepare the parliamentary cricket team.
Up to 47 members of the National Assembly will attend the first assessment and training camp at the first Shalimar Cricket Ground from 16 April for a week.
Afterwards, parliamentarians will be making friendlies by the end of this month to finalize a competitive team and participate in the exciting and unique tournament. The PCB has set the timetable for parliamentarians’ initial evaluation and training camps under the supervision of their trainers.
